Working at Akiba
Pre-School Teacher Job Description
There are many opportunities for employment within Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School. We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals with a dedication to early childhood. The teachers at Akiba-Schechter are committed to building a classroom community that is child driven. This is done through a variety of ways including group games, art activities, dramatic play, story writing, singing, movement and much more.
An important goal of being part of the Akiba-Schechter staff is to provide children with the tools necessary for learning, inspiring them to be curious, encouraging them to ask questions, and helping the children to develop problem solving skills.
We have part time and full time positions available. Our programs include mornings, afternoons, and full day. The children range in age from two years old to five years old. The positions entail working with a co-teacher and being responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum. Many of our activities revolve around the Jewish calendar. A background in Jewish traditions and celebrations is helpful but not necessary. Akiba-Schechter offers programs that are 2 days, 3 days, and 5 days.
