Upstairs Blue Room & Afternoon Explorers
I make sure that each child I see gets a warm hug every morning. I encourage them to ask questions, to be more curious, and believe that learning is fun.
At the end of the day I always try to send a child home with a big smile on his or her face. I try to do all these things in the Upstairs Blue room.
My teaching philosophy is that 'If it is not in hand and body, it cannot be in the brain' - I believe in that and try to incorporate that in my classroom.
I joined Akiba in 2003. Before Akiba, I worked in the University of Chicago Lab School as a volunteer and studied Early Childhood Education (M.Ed) at U.I.C.
I was born in Calcutta, India. I love to listen music, recite poems and cook. In Hyde Park I live with my husband and 5 year-old daughter from whom I learn so many things everyday.
