Each child has his own gifts to offer the class. I love being able to bring out a child’s qualities and help them show the world whom they are in a warm, fun and unconditionally loving environment. I love making them laugh and feel proud to create opportunities for them to grow and learn.
I was born in Montreal , Quebec, Canada . Before beginning my career in teaching, I was a lifeguard and managed pools where I taught swimming and National Lifeguard. I loved training teenagers in the techniques on how to save a life. I also taught gymnastics for 10 years after taking gymnastics for 7 years.
Professionally, I have participated in many workshops such as digital storytelling in the classroom and how to use movement to develop gross motor skills, listening skills and math concepts. I have spent a lot of time training in Differential Instruction.
Before coming to Akiba-Schechter in 2006, I taught for six years in Montreal at a Jewish Day school called... Akiva! I was the English teacher in pre-kindergarten for 6 years and co-taught English and Math in grade 1 for two years. I was teacher representative to the school board for the last two years.
My passions are many! They include spending time with friends and family, going to Shedd Aquarium, sports, dancing and looking at my numerous photo albums. Is there anything else you would like to add (hobbies, family, etc.)? I came to Chicago for Love. My fiané, Ross, was transferred to Montreal for business and my brother was working in the Montreal office. My brother, Jason, essentially set us up without telling us and it's been a wonderful ride ever since. Ross was living in Chicago for 5 years before we met in June 2005. We are planning a September 2007 wedding in Montreal.
