Ready! Set! Go!

I love the art that children make. It never loses its "wow" for me. I try to let children know how much their work thrills me. When designing an art project in the classroom a teacher should plan carefully and prepare materials thoughtfully so that the children will be able to create and explore, not merely follow the teacher's directions. I believe that the most successful projects result in works that are both unique and pleasing. This is where a teachers careful planning comes in. You need to set out materials that actually work together (glue that really sticks, colors that don't always end up being brown, etc.). Finally, teachers need to be excited about the process and the results.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago.

I started substitute teaching at Akiba in 1999 when my younger son entered Akiba's Pre-School. Before coming to Akiba, I worked in magazine production.

I was born in Chicago, and my family (my husband, two children and myself) lives in Hyde Park. We love bird watching, exploring the city, and taking photographs.
